Holiday memories categorised first to sports.

During the 8 days holiday we went skiing 5 days.  Daily routine was to wake up early, have breakfast (simple but filling) and on the lift before 9am or just after it if travelling to other villages.  Shuttle bus was free in the Gasteiner valley, fast and easy.  Then skiing until lunch around noon.  And after half an hour break skiing again till the lifts close after 4pm.  Daily saldo something like 35-45km and this is downhill skiing.  I had my SportsTracker on and it showed 50-60km including lifts uphill.  One day we went to a safari, going from Dorfgastein to Flachau using the lifts and coming down one hill and then up again the next.  Had to use the bus twice to get forward (just 10-15mins) and then bus also back to our village maybe 100km.

Sportgastein highest station and we climbed still c.30m higher.  Legs aching afterwards and could only come down once after that.  I did one black slope in here:

Walking in the village was also training. The village is built by the mountain and distance between hotel, restaurant, waterfall and other sights were short but basicly 45 degrees up or downhill.  Walking was slow and hard.  The last day we found out that we can use a lift in a parking hall to get up 12 floors and a bit easier get back to hotel after dinner at night.   View from our hotel balcony:

One day we went to Felsentherme to swim and sauna.  They use the hot water coming from the mountains to heat streets and probably houses too.  It's radon rich but they filter the radon out off the pool water.  We tested 4-5 saunas (infrared was new to us) and then just let the warm water wipe off all the muscle tightness for 3 hours.  Came out like a new born.
