Some thoughts about Tuuli and her time at the Art school.  The first period is now over and second one started yesterday.  System is such that period lasts for 7 weeks and the last week is just for tests.  She's got 5-7 subjects during one period and tests are one per day.  Tuuli had Maths, Swedish, Finnish, Chemistry, Ceramics and Fine art during the first period and now in the second one Maths, Finnish, English, Swedish, Health, Philosophy, Ceramics and Drawing&Painting.  The first period results have not yet been published in Wilma (the system in internet where parents can follow and participate).

The art studies were not tested like the traditional studies but she had a critics session with the teacher.  For her products at ceramics she got good feedback for the design of a coffee mug.  Tuuli made the handle look like a butterfly wing.  I will add pics here.  I liked a lot one piece of work, a figure of a woman, sitting in thoughts.  It's just perfect.  Tuuli really masters the proportions of a man, amazing really.  I'll try to get a picture also of that 20cm tiny black figure so that you get the idea.

Tuuli got 10 at Fine arts!  The description of the first course was The basics of composition and cromatics.  First work was to descripe stillness with just black horizontal or vertical lines and then motion with the same technique.  You just guess what I would have drawn... nothing.  The best work was about the cromatics, Tuuli draw Marilyn Mansion four times with different colours from the colour wheel.  One picture with close ones i.e. blue and violet, complementary like violet and yellow, and two others which I just don't remember what was the idea.  Too strange a subject for me.  But learning :)

But Tuuli is really enjoying her school, very motivated and hardworking.  Hopefully she can share her energy and not exhausting herself with all the things to do.  She is a bit requesting too much from herself, trying to do her best in everything.  And do not take advice from me or Jouni very well.  But I do enjoy watching her telling about her day and things they have done.  Good for her.
